From a student in Art 181 (Survey: Ancient and Medieval Art):
"...I was looking for a way to take a course to finish my degree from UW-Eau Claire. UW Colleges allowed me to take the necessary course and gave me the flexibility to maintain my current work schedule.
As a sales manager responsible for the Midwest, I travel quite a bit. However, the format used by UW Colleges allowed me to log on from any locale and post or check my assignments. The instructor introduced the subject in a simple, yet informative manner.
He also did not discount a lack of experience in the subject, but rather encouraged everyone to go out and experience it while in class. I can honestly say that should I ever need to take another online course the first place I would look is UW Colleges!"
From a returning adult student in an English class:
"I really like this type of class. For one thing, being able to read and reread the lectures, assignments, etc., is so helpful for me. I am keeping a three-ring folder of all of the material in the class – I'm printing everything (schedules, assignments, lectures, etc.)
You pretty much know exactly what is expected of you in this class. Everything you need is right in front of you. Of course, the professor is always close by via email which makes it convenient if you have questions. Also, the fact that it is an Internet course is perfect for me.
Right now I'm actually in Orlando getting ready for one of our biggest trade shows. I fly directly back to Chicago next week to set up another big show and exhibit at it the following week. Having my computer with me lets me keep up on assignments and I don't even have to miss class!"
From a student in Math 271 (Differential Equations) to his/her professor:
"...the course site is set up well, and seems to run smoothly. You have done and are doing a great job with the course. This is a difficult course when taught in a classroom, and you have managed to do a nice job of teaching it over the Internet.
Thanks for your patience, and words of encouragement when they are needed."
From a student in Math 105 (Introduction to College Algebra):
"As impersonal as the Internet and email can be, I found [the instructor] to be a warm, caring person. She began every email or correction with a positive comment and continuously encouraged those of us struggling.
As hard as the course was for me, and as much as I dislike working with numbers, I will miss my communications with [the instructor]."
