60th Annual Grammy Awards: Staff Predictions

Record of the Year

 • “Redbone” - Childish Gambino

 • “Despacito” -Luis Fonsi & Daddy Yankee Featuring Justin Bieber

 • “The Story Of O.J.” - JAY-Z

 • “HUMBLE.” - Kendrick Lamar

 • “24K Magic” - Bruno Mars

Based on these nominees, this is a tough one to call. “Despacito” was arguably the song of the summer, while Kendrick Lamar and JAY-Z both received a ton of praise for their albums.

What does Professor Davis think?

“I really love Bruno Mars, and I think “24K Magic” will win for best song this year.”

Album of the Year

 • "Awaken, My Love!” - Childish Gambino

 • “4:44” - JAY-Z

 • “DAMN.” - Kendrick Lamar

 • “Melodrama” - Lorde

 • “24K Magic” - Bruno Mars

2018 was a big year for rap and hip-hop with three nominees from these genres. However, Lorde and Bruno Mars have been fan favorites for awhile now.

Professor Davis’ prediction: “I think the best album award will go to JAY-Z or Kendrick. Both albums were innovative.”

Best Grammys Moment

From the very beginning, the Grammys have been full of surprises and memorable moments thanks to our favorite music artists. Here are just a few:

  • That time Lady Gaga started her performance by hatching out of an egg.
  • Melissa Etheridge’s stunning performance after beginning cancer treatments with Joss Stone.
  • When Milli Vanilli lost their Grammy due to lip synching allegations.

What was Professor Davis’ favorite moment?

“I loved Michael Jackson's "Man in the Mirror" performance in 1988. I was in high school, and I still remember that like it was yesterday. He put his whole body and soul into that performance.  The gospel choir absolutely rocked!!”

Tune into the Grammys to find out if your own predictions are correct. You never know what this year’s performances will bring.
