Sarah Zastrow

Reedsburg, WI

"She was pleased with the attention her professors showed her, whether through encouragement or as a quick response to a question."

Sarah Zastrow didn’t let her busy schedule get in her way of pursuing a bachelor’s degree. UW Colleges Online allowed her to take an online nutrition course while taking classes at UW-Baraboo/Sauk County, working for her father and being a personal trainer on the side. She was pleased with the attention her professors showed her, whether through encouragement or as a quick response to a question. Though Sarah felt her online course was different from her on-campus classes, she still felt connected to her classmates through online discussion forums. She recommends taking both on-campus and online courses if able.

During her time with UW Colleges Online, Sarah did figure competing on top of taking courses. Recently, she began powerlifting. With her natural talent and lots of hard work, Sarah ranked number one in the US for her weight and age and placed in the top 10 for her weight in USA Powerlifting (USAPL). Clearly, she is a driven student and athlete.

After graduating from UW-Baraboo/Sauk County, Sarah went on to UW-Madison to finish her bachelor’s degree. Sarah plans to graduate with a degree in Horticulture in December 2017. She feels that knowing how to grow food is an important life skill. She is currently looking to apply to work at the Madison Police Department. We are excited to see where Sarah’s journey takes her. With her healthy mind and body, Sarah is sure to do great things.
